First Habitat for Humanity for Milton

The Champion report that Mattamy Homes will be breaking ground this November for the first Habitat for Humanity home to be built in Milton. Mattamy have donated the land for the 1150 square foot home. The family must meet certain criteria of being working poor or in poverty paying more than 30% of net income to rent and must contribute 500 hours to the building of the home. Anne Swarbrick, executive director at Habitat for Humanity states that 6% of households in Milton live below the poverty line based on 2006 census stats.
